Welcome to the Art........and now the books........
I created this site as a showcase for my work and also to offer services within the creative arts, this includes painting my portraits (check out new stuff for my latest ones and guest artists for a different style). My NEW STUFF isn't SO NEW any more so please BEAR WITH ME AS I'M ABOUT TO ADD SOME NEW WORK AND GET OFF MY LAZY BOTTOM AND UPDATE THE SITE. Well it's now 2016 and another year of life has nearly gone. By God it goes quick as you get older. Horrible. Anyway the best way is to try and do as much as you can. Through ill health I've laid off the art for a while and written a few books. I will dedicate some of my site to that too. I realised while I was looking at this site that I've not put any recent artwork on it and some of it is better than some of my previous work. So I'll update a bit as I can. I will be opening a shop on line at Christmas. As weebly have hosted me free on this site for years I will go and do business with them. Upgrade. Anyway sending love and light your way.
As I specialise in murals the bigger the better, and batik and wall hangings I am soon to introduce my latest venture which will be DESIGNER HANDBAGS MADE FROM SCRATCH OR RECYCLED AND LOVED AND PAINTED. THESE WILL BE SHOWCASED ON DEVIANT ART, AMAZON AND PERHAPS E-BAY SOON. ALSO I AM SENDING MY BOOK AROUND THE PUBLISHERS AT THE MOMENT SO WISH ME LUCK. My wall hangings take a lot of work, from buying the cloth or recycling it, I draw the design freehand, then go over it in permanent marker or leave it with pencil, then the wax goes on, then the dyes. That's half of it done. Then I iron out the wax between two sheets of brown paper. Then I quilt them, then eventually join them together. It's a long process but means that every single one of my wall hangings or cushions are unique. I HAVE SOLD AROUND 30,000 PIECES OF WORK OVER THE YEARS, BUT DUE TO ILL HEALTH I'VE BEEN LAX LATELY SOON TO CHANGE. LOVE TO YOU ALL. BLESSED BE.
I've owned and ran two moderately successful businesses, one a co-operative, the other an art gallery, both community based. It's never been about the money but the love of art. I it was about the money I'd have given up a loooong time ago. Through these businesses I gained some very good commissions and some really good friends. The picture above is called venus on vacation. It's currently located in Market Street, Birkenhead, on the corner of a building in Henry Street and you can also see it on Google Earth apparently. It's been there for 14 years now, and still looks okay. There is more information about this later on, in more murals. I hope you give my site a chance as I need to add lots more pictures to it. If you have a look at my pages you will see some of my older work, as I've done so much I lost the will to document it by photographing before the blessed digital cameras came along. Life has a way of running away especially when you get older so I update when I can. Sad thing is a lot of my work just isn't documented, as I've taught a lot too, and I just didn't have the time as a busy working mum. Most of the images on here are scanned in from an old camera so please consider this when regarding the quality.
.... and the Stuff is more art, sculpture and so on, and there's still a little bit of I.T at the end.
What a strange combination I hear you say. Well not really all IT is art, from coding to copying, the amazing art and creativity of the whole techno scene is amazing. I've decided to go away from mending and fixing and sorting computers and try and get my feet back into the art world. I have been known as a recognised artist but a change of name and career saw the end of that and I need to get my stuff back out there. It's been slow to start but I am getting there. I also do workshops for things such as batik etc. Check out my work and see if there is anything I can offer. My offerings to IT are simple, I analyse a problem and then I fix it. I also teach everyone how to use a computer and from the basics to switching it on, to sending emails and such other great mysteries of the modern world. But back to what my passion is now again, good old art, which takes so many forms from plastering to drawing to cooking, making cakes, gardening, knitting in fact anything creative, and remember ART IS FOR EVERYONE SO WHATEVER YOU DO ENJOY IT, BE PROUD OF IT AND DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE THINKS.
