3D Dragon for Harry Potter night at Bebington Library Feb 2018
This was a commission paid for by the friends of Bebington Library. It was for a Harry Potter/Fantastic beasts night run around the country in all libraries.
I was given the brief which was a dragon to be put on a 6ft (diameter) window in the library. I used papier mache for the head and the claws to create the 3D element. It was a little challenging as at first I only had a black and white A4 photocopy. I found it on the internet for the colours and it's the cover of Fantastic beasts. I changed it a little in my own style as I don't like plagiarising from other artists unless I'm doing them justice. Then I used acrylic paint mixed with PVA glue to do the background. This can be used like stained glass paint but comes off easily, which I found out when I painted these very windows in 2009 and 2011. Then as it was awkward to get to as I don't drive I did a huge template of the window and created the dragon's body on good quality card. I did this like a jigsaw puzzle and also so that as they'd paid for the job it means they can use the dragon again and again for say the likes of Chinese New Year. Unlike my previous Bebington library murals where they had to be completely cleaned off the glass. I have done murals all over the place from Liverpool Football club in the 1990s, for Crinkley Bottom, for many nurseries and schools and have worked with ALL age groups from children to OAP's. I have a lot of experience and can teach anyone to produce a piece of art they'll be proud of. I specialise in batik too.
Please get in touch using my contact page on this site if you are curious about anything or would like to get an estimate/quote for all things art. After all ART IS FOR EVERYONE... no matter their background.
