Portrait in oils, standard commission.
This portrait is about 25 years old now. My style has gotten smoother over the years, getting better and more refined as with anything you put lots of practice into. This was a standard commission done in oils, they take a bit longer due to drying time and method of painting but compared to acrylic they have a softer look. I have used this as an example because of the 100s and 100s of paintings I have done it was one of my first well paid jobs, so has a special place in my heart. The three little angels? They probably have little angels of their own now. No job is too small, nor too big, and I am happy to provide an estimate or a quote free of charge. I accept oil commissions although for a long time I have painted in acrylics and I am now using pencils, pens and markers. Prices start a lot lower than you think. So get in touch through my contacts page if you want an original piece of art that costs less than some of the prints for sale in places like John Lewis's. Also don't forget I'm happy to provide one to one sessions in all things arts and crafts or IT.
Hand painted cushions.
These are my cushions, hand painted using batik. They start as white cotton, they're then sketched, then drawn with permanent marker, then waxed. Then painted. Dried and ironed to get rid of the wax, then quilted, and the final stage made into cushions and stuffed. They take about 5 days in total to make about 10 to 15. I've sold since I stared them in 1990 around 2750. I've not done them for a while with all the cheap imports on the market they're deemed too expensive to some. When you see how much work goes into one, I think they justify their 15 to 30 pound price tag. Unique everyone is different. Again I'm happy to do group sessions or one to one, which have proved very successful in the past. |
This is an old invitation from Liverpool Academy of arts who used to hold a Beatles Exhibition every year. Approved by Paul McCartney too.
The cushions on the left are from one of the exhibitions that the wonderful Liverpool Academy of Arts in the summer year in year out. June Lorney and incredibly talented and kind woman has been solely responsible for some of the best art in Merseyside, showcasing all artists without prejudice, like we tried to do at Spice. This is an old flyer when she used to hold it at St. Georges Hall. I loved it when it was held in St. George's hall. We used to make a lot of money from the tourists. After the academy of arts left there they moved to Seel Street not far from Radio Merseyside. Right by the centre of town. You just have to walk for three minutes from Central Station. It's a huge open space ideal for exhibitions. June helped me with my gallery Spice. I hope she's in good health as I write this. |
